The cost of a 30-second Super Bowl commercial continues holding at a premium level this year, with NBC drawing in excess of $5 million for a 30-second spot for Sunday's showcase.
That's according to a report from Sports Illustrated. Between breaks in action in the game between New England and Philadelphia, the ads will reach an audience that typically exceeds 100 million viewers.
SI points out that the average price of a 30-second ad during Game 7 of the 2016 World Series was just over $500,000 and the cost of a similar spot during the 2016 Oscars was about $2 million.
Last year's Super Bowl prices ran about $5.5 million per spot.
